Carbon Facial Skin Treatment
Laser carbon facial is the latest innovative, non-invasive facial treatment for all skin types. With no downtime, it may deliver immediate results.
The carbon laser facial treatment is often known as the Hollywood or the black-faced doll facial and may create a porcelain doll complexion. It is one of the most advanced treatments for minor skin imperfections. The carbon laser peel may help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, including crow’s feet. The process is non-invasive and pain-free.
How does laser carbon skin treatment work?
The laser treatment is suitable for all ages and may help lighten spots and dark spots, fade freckles, and remove blackheads and acne. It may also help to lift and tighten the skin.
The principle behind the black doll facial is that carbon powder possesses a strong capacity to absorb dirt deep in the pores. The face is first coated with carbon nano-particles. Next, the laser is used on the skin. The medical-graded laser allows the particles to penetrate deep into pores, shattering the epidermal keratinocytes and dirt. The heat from the laser also enables the carbon powder to be absorbed into the skin, stimulating the skin cells. Regeneration occurs by encouraging the growth of collagen and elastic fibres.
The process
After cleansing, carbon paste is massaged on the face, then high-intensity pulses of light are delivered from the laser, which destroys debris clogged in the pores. This state of the art laser treatment may help refine enlarged pores which reduce oil secretion and helps remove blackheads and whiteheads. The treatment may stimulate the face to produce more collagen.
Aftercare
It is advised that you use a sun protection cream after treatment with a minimum SP30. A course of 6 sessions is recommended for maximum results and discounts are available for courses.

FAQs
What is a carbon facial procedure?
This is a non-surgical procedure also known as carbon skin revitalisation. It is a two-stage process which may help freshen the complexion by removing the outer layers of dead skin cells from your face. It may gradually reduce pore size. Whiteheads and blackheads are also often removed by this technique. Removing the dead skin layers also allows your moisturiser to work more effectively at home.
What does the treatment involve?
Carbon paste is first applied to the surface of the skin. The outer dead skin cells of the epidermis will absorb the carbon paste but deeper living cells of the skin will not absorb the paste. Using a special tip 1064nm wavelength of the laser will be absorbed by the carbon, which is vaporised by the Q switched pulse along with the dead cells. The lining of the open pores also react with the carbon and blackheads and whiteheads are removed. The treatment has the immediate effect of a gentle laser peel. Slight heat is generated by fragmenting the carbon, which penetrates the dermis leading to collagen denaturation. A series of treatments (6 months or more) can therefore cause new collagen formation. The second stage of the procedure enhances this process and the laser energy is absorbed deeper into the dermis causing micro-injury to the collagen and elastin fibres. Collagen and elastin fibres may therefore regenerate and remodel. This is then followed with a cleanse, tone and moisturising of the area to further enhance the results and overall luxurious feel of the treatment.
Can everyone receive this treatment?
Your skin type, medical history and medication will be checked during your consultation to make sure you are suitable for treatment. Test patches will also be carried out during your initial visit to ensure no adverse skin reaction occurs. Your first full treatment cannot be carried out until these test patches have been reviewed by your practitioner.
What are the risks of using this treatment?
Eye injury due to the use of lasers is a risk to the client and to the practitioner. However, the risks are almost completely eliminated with the use of proper eyewear. Your eyes will be covered during any laser procedure either with special safety spectacles or with goggles similar to those worn in a tanning booth.
Will the treatment make my face red or sore?
No, this is a very gentle laser peel, which only removes the dead skin cells revealing the new fresh ones. There is no downtime and it is often carried out in clients’ lunch hours. The skin will look and feel plumped up, firmer and silky soft with a gentle glow.
Can I wear make-up after the treatment?
It is recommended that the face is left make-up free for a couple of hours to ensure the make-up does not irritate the skin.
How often can I have this treatment?
This can be a one-off treatment before a special occasion, but the best results are achieved from a monthly facial for a period of 6 months or more, which causes new collagen formation in the skin.
Will it hurt?
No, not at all. It has been described as a gentle tapping on the skin or the feeling of warm water droplets running over the skin. I did find that it tickled especially around the nose area.
Are there any special precautions to take after treatment?
Make-up should be left off for a couple of hours. The skin should be moisturised morning and evening and clients should stay out of strong sunlight or wear SPF 50 for 24 to 48 hours. Very hot baths or face washes should be avoided.
Can I have treatment on the day of my special event?
For the best results, you should book a treatment for the week before any special event you have planned.
